Doesn't karma make more sense than grace?

Karma makes sense as a law. But nobody can live under it: every one of us has done harm we cannot repay. Grace is not unfair; it is justice paid by someone else.

Karma says you get what you deserve. The gospel says God gave his Son so that you would not get what you deserve. That only sounds unfair until you need it. The thief on the cross had no time to build merit; Jesus promised him paradise.

“Student, sentient beings are the owners of their deeds and heir to their deeds. Deeds are their womb, their relative, and their refuge. It is deeds that divide beings into inferior and superior.”

23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

25whom God sent to be an atoning sacrifice through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance; 26to demonstrate his righteousness at this present time, that he might himself be just and the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus.

Reason 5: Karma keeps the books. It can never forgive.

Welcome to BuddhistTok

BuddhistTok tests what Buddhism teaches (karma, rebirth, no-self, nirvana, no Creator) against the Bible, quoting the Buddhist texts word for word, and shows why Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

Read the ten places Buddhism goes wrong, learn what each tradition believes, swipe the cards, or ask a question. We critique ideas, never people.
