Wasn't Jesus a bodhisattva or an enlightened master?
Jesus did not claim to be enlightened. He claimed to be the eternal Son of God, to forgive sins and to be the only way to the Father. A bodhisattva would never say that.
Some Buddhist teachers, including the Dalai Lama in The Good Heart (1996), have spoken of Jesus as a highly realised being. That is meant kindly, but it does not fit what Jesus said. He did not teach a path to awakening; he said before Abraham was, I am, he forgave sins against God, and he accepted worship.
Either Jesus was who he said he was, or he was not a good teacher at all. He leaves us no room to call him just enlightened.
